This evening, Manchester United will meet with Colchester United in the League Cup quarter-finals at Old Trafford in Manchester.
The Manchester United team hopes to reach the semi-finals of the championship and walk away towards its title, as it qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating Chelsea by two goals to one goal at Stamford Bridge.
On the other hand, Colchester United aspires to continue its surprise in that tournament after the Carrolltown team cleared the final price and before that they passed the Tottenham Hotspur hurdle.
Manchester United will be absent from Colchester United, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Eric Bailey, Fuso Mensah and Diego Dalot due to the injury.
Paul Pogba’s comeback is set to be delayed due to illness. The Man Utd midfielder was expected to return to training this week after recovering from the ankle injury that has kept him out since September.
Defender Diogo Dalot could make his first appearance since October, but Marcos Rojo, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Eric Bailly remain sidelined.
Colchester are set to play their first ever away match against Man Utd in any competition – each of the last six English teams to play their first away game against the Red Devils have lost, most recently Crawley Town in 2011 – the last to win their first such game was Wimbledon in May 1987.
The battalion of coach Olli Gunnar Solshire comes from two major victories at the expense of Manchester City and Tottenham, but Everton stood in the way of completing the convincing and enjoyable performance of the Red Devils.
